The European Space Agency (ESA) is now inviting entrepreneurs to submit innovative ideas to the Earth Observation Entrepreneurship Initiative (EOEI) Call until 19 June 2016 12:00 CET through the web form available here.
The Call aims to attract new players to the world of Earth Observation from space and support innovative ideas using Earth Observation (EO) data that can turn grand challenges of our society, emerging business needs and advances in digital technologies into new growth opportunities for Europe.
The expected outcome of the Call is that the selected teams of entrepreneurs develop a fully consolidated ESA BIC Application Package (eBAP) including (i) a technical proposal (ii) a business plan over a period of 3 months in order to apply for a full incubation package within the ESA Business Incubation Center (BIC) of their choice. For information, an example of a template eBAP package is available here.
ESA plans to award up to 50 Innovation Vouchers worth 15,000 EURO enabling the selected applicants to procure data, tools and specific expertise and services to refine their idea and prototype products both on a technical and business model point of view.
It is to be noted that this Call is directed specifically to new players and is fully complementary to other existing competitions (e.g. Copernicus Masters, App camps), as it addresses the pre-incubation phase, thereby bridging the feasibility gap between ideas and the incubation of new companies.
In order to support the Competition, ESA has appointed Verhaert New Products and Services (being part of the ESA Technology Transfer Network) operating as a coordinator of this Call on behalf of ESA to prepare, manage and coordinate the Call.
Applicants are invited to carefully read the Draft Contract and Terms of Conditions below to which they need to agree to participate in this Competition.
